Abstract
During an investigation into the synthesis of optically active trityl systems, it was found that triphenylcarbinol could be converted into its methyl ether in an excellent yield by treatment with iodine in methanol. Although the reaction appeared to be an obvious one, a survey sho~ved that such a procedure had not as yet been recorded in the literature.
