Results Chemical Products and Quantum Yields. Irradiation of 1, 2-diphenyl-2-methyl-1- propanone (1) in homogeneous organic solvents (benzene, acetonitrile, methylene chloride) results mainly in the formation of the dibenzyl derivative 8a and benzaldehyde (6a), together with smaller amounts of benzil (10) and a-methylstyrene (7a), and traces of cumene (9)(see Table I and Scheme 11).
