Abstract

B] has been prepared from the adenosine-type C-nucleoside antibiotic formycin. The synthetic route has used an initial ring opening followed by a series of chemical transformations and subsequent ring closure to afford 5-aminoformycin B. This synthetic route was also used to prepare the heterocyclic aglycon, 5-aminopyrazolo [4, 3-d] pyrimidin- 7-one, of the guanosine derivative.
