Abstract

The 1-alkenyl complexes 5-C5H5 (CO) 2Fe (CH2) nCH CH2](n= 2 and 3) have been prepared by the reaction of Na [η5-C5H5 (CO) 2Fe] with 4-bromo-l-butene and 5-bromo-l- pentene respectively. The reactivity of the σ-olefin complexes in hydrogenation, hydroboration and hydroformylation reactions are reported as are reactions with Lewis acids such as TiCl4 and the electrophile HC1.
