Abstract

2-(3-Methoxyphenylthio) benzoic acid (VII) was converted in five steps to 7-methoxy-llH- dibenzo [b, fjthiepin-10-one (11). Reaction with I-methylpiperazine and titanium tetrachloride yielded 7-methoxy-1O-(4-methylplperazino) dibenzo [b, fjthiepin (V) which was reduced by diborane to the 10, 11-dihydro derivative I.
