Abstract

Our interest in the natural products described above was induced by the carbalexins, described as the first carbazole-containing phytoalexins, [¹5] as well as the pharmacological potential of these compounds. In 2005, Franzblau et al. isolated lansine (5) from Micromelum hirsutum and found that it inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (strain H 37 Rv).
