Abstract
(IV)(VI(VI) o-Xyloquinone (I).-A cold suspension of diazonium salt from 21.0 g. of sulfanilic acid was added to a solution containing 11.2 g. of 2, 3-dimethylphenol, 60 cc. of water, and 15.0 g. of sodium hydroxide. After standing overnight at ice-bath temperature, 44.0 g. of sodium hydrosulfite was added in one portion with good stirring, and the solution was allowed to warm to room temperature.
