Abstract
The spirosilanonadiene 7 has also been found as the only volatile product detected from the cocondensation of silicon vapor with butadiene in a Timms “freeze-fry''metal evaporation apparatu~'~ modified to reach the ca. 1600 OC required for vaporization of silicon. 16 While the yield was again low (ca. l%), this is the first stable product obtained from cocondensation of silicon vapor with a hydrocarbon.
