Abstract

Efficient [2+ 2] heterodimerizations of dissimilar acyclic enones can be accomplished upon visible light irradiation in the presence of a ruthenium (II) photocatalyst. Similar cycloadditions under standard UV photolysis conditions are inefficient and unselective.
