Abstract
The unusual chemistry of 3, 4-epoxy-2, 2, 4-trimethyl-pentyl isobutyrate became apparent from the low values obtained from oxirane oxygen determinations and from gas chromatograms of the products formed when the epoxy ester was treated with acids. Vsing a modification of the procedure described by King, 4 the oxirane oxygen content of 3, 4-epoxy- 2, 2, 4-trimethylpentyl isobutyrate was indicated to be 2.2%. This is only 29% of the ...
