Abstract
Conversion of organic functionalities in organic synthesis is still a focal point of thinking. Halogens are widely used in aliphatic systems to introduce various other functionalities. For example, treatment of alkylhalides with sodium nitrite gives rise to alkylnitro compounds along with nitrite esters.1-3 We report herein the formation of nitrile oxides from alkylbromide, chloride and nitrite when treated with sodium nitrite2 and acetic acid in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) medium.4 ...
