Abstract

As synthetic models for the heme a 3-CuB active site in cytochrome c oxidases, we describe dioxygen reactivity studies for copper and the heme-copper systems which contain a cross- linked imidazole-phenol group. This investigation includes (i) detailed kinetic and thermodynamic properties of the 1/O2 reaction and (ii) characterization of a new heme- peroxo-copper complex 4 by various spectroscopies.
