Abstract

Alcohol (14). A mixture of 17 (1.17 g, 2.5 mmol) and lithium aluminum hydride (0.95 g, 25 mmol) in THF (50 ml) was heated at reflux for 3 h, and then it was hydrolyzed with 5% HC1. After the addition of ether (400 ml), the acid layer was separatd. The acid layer was made alkaline with aqueous sodium hydroxide and extracted with ether. Distillation of the extract gave 0.58 g (80.2%) of 14 which was identical with the product of lithium aluminum ...
