Abstract
Results We reasoned that a powerful alkylating agent, such as alkyl trifluoromethanesulfonate (triflate), might be capable of alkylating a hydroperoxide in the absence of strong bases which are required to generate alkylperoxy anions for reactions with less powerful alkylating agents, eg alkyl mesylates or alkyl halides. In fact, isopropyl triflate readily alkylates tert-butyl hydroperoxide in a few hours at room temperature. ...
