Abstract
Piperonal (3, 4-(methy1enedioxy) benzaldehyde)(l), an important fragrance used as a soap additive and a synthetic precursor of Dopa, has been industrially prepared by ozonolysis' or chromic acid oxidation2 of isosafrole 2.
