Abstract

Caged compounds can be used to regulate the spatial and temporal dynamics of signaling molecules in live cells. Photochemical properties of coumarin-4-ylmethoxy carbonates (1a- d) are investigated to construct caged compounds of hydroxy-containing molecules.
