Abstract
Trivalent phosphorus compounds, phosphine or trialkylphosphites, have been oxidized by means of diethyl azodicarboxylate and either benzyl or allyl alcohol to give the corresponding phosphine oxide or trialkyl phosphates. The reaction was then extended to the phosphorylation of alcohols.
