Abstract

Reaction of alkyl/arylsulfonyl halides with glycine afforded a series of derivatives which were first N-benzylated by treatment with benzyl chloride, and then converted to the corresponding hydroxamic acids with hydroxylamine in the presence of carbodiimide derivatives.
