Abstract

Perfluoroalcohols are not known as a general class of compounds [1] and [2]. The CF 2 OH and CFOH groups are unstable and decompose into hydrogen fluoride and perfluorinated carbonyl compounds. This is especially true for primary perfluoroalcohols, although secondary perfluorocyclobutanol with a fluorine atom directly attached to the carbon that also carries the hydroxyl, has been isolated [3]. ...
