Abstract
We recently described the first synthesis of a peralkylcyclotri- silane, hexaneopentylcyclotrisilane [(BuCH2)2Si]3, which gave on photolysis the first peralkyldisilene, tetraneopentyldi- silene (BU'CH~)~S~=S~( CH2But)2. 1 The spectrophotometric properties of these compounds are of interest: both the Si3 and Si=Si frameworks behave as chromophores per se, showing their longest wavelength absorption maxima at 3 10 and 400 nm, respectively.
