Abstract
This paper is concerned with a novel type of condensation reaction in which a- methoxystyrene takes part. Methane is eliminated and the product is a phenacyl derivative of the other reactant. An example is the condensation of a-methoxystyrene with propiophenone to form 1, 2-dibenzoylpropane.
