Abstract
Aryldimethylamines can be prepared by nucleophilic aromatic substitution (S N Ar) of aryl or heteroaryl halides with dimethylamine. However, because of the volatile nature of this reagent and the high temperatures or long reaction times often required,(1) outgassing from open flask reactors or pressure build-up under sealed-tube conditions can be problematic.
