Abstract

Reactions of a series of Fe (CN) 5L3-complexes with peroxydisulfate have been found to follow an outer-sphere electron transfer mechanism. The specific rate constants of oxidation are smaller than those of the corresponding Ru (NH3) 5L2+ complexes by a factor of~ 102 even after the corrections for the differences in reduction potentials and in the charges of the complexes.
