Abstract

Fluoroform, CHF3, a non-ozone-depleting, nontoxic, and inexpensive gas can be used as a difluorocarbene source in a process for the conversion of phenols and thiophenols to their difluoromethoxy and difluorothiomethoxy derivatives.
