Abstract
NHC-catalyzed direct amidation of aldehydes with nitroso compounds is a powerful method for the synthesis of N-arylhydroxamic acids. A variety of aryl, alkyl, alkenyl, and heterocyclic aldehydes were found to give excellent yields of the corresponding N-arylhydroxamic acids.
