Abstract

Abstract Methoxyethoxymethyl ethers (MEM) and methoxymethyl ethers (MOM) of allylic alcohols are readily cleaved by pyridinium paratoluenesulfonate (PPTS) in 2-butanone or t- butyl alcohol. This procedure is also efficient for deprotection of benzylic and aliphatic alcohols.
