Abstract

In a general experimental procedure, the THP or MOM ether was heated at reflux in ethyl acetate in the presence of a catalytic amount (20 mol%) of indium triiodide generate in situ by the reaction of indium metal and iodine 7 (a small excess of either In or I 2 does not make any difference to the normal course of reaction) for a certain period of time as required to complete the reaction.
