Abstract
It has been shown recently1 that acetic acid interacts with m-chlorophenyldiazonium borofluoride to give m-chlorophenyl acetate in a yield of about 50%. As the acetate is readily saponified to the phenol, the method appeared to be useful for the preparation of phenols when the normal decomposition of the diazo compound in water does not take place readily.
