Abstract: The application of a new strategy for the design of potential transition-state analogues for carboxypeptidase A (CPA) has led to the development of a potent competitive inhibitor. N-[[[(Benzyloxycarbonyl) amino] methyl] hydroxy-phosphinyll-L-phenylalanine, dilithium salt,(ZG” P), 4, is an analogue of the substrate Z-Gly-L-Phe with a tetrahedral phosphonamidate moiety in place of the scissile peptide group.
