Abstract
There are no published data on chemical transformations of 2, 5-substituted 1, 2-oxazolidine- 3, 3-dicarbonitriles. With a view to elucidate the direction of hydrolysis of substituted 5-aryl-1, 2-oxazolidine-3, 3-dicarbonitriles we examined the reaction of 2-(2-nitro-1-phenylethoxy)-5- phenyl-1, 2-oxazolidine-3, 3-dicarbonitrile (I) with dilute (1: 1) hydrochloric acid.
