Abstract

The thermally initiated reaction of acetylene with olefins containing four to eight carbon atoms was studied in a flow system at 2500 psi and 350'. The 1: 1 addition products obtained were nonconjugated, lJ4-diolefins. For example, butene-1, butene-2, and isobutylene produced l, Chexadiene, 3-rnethyl-lJ4-pentadiene, and 2-rnethyl-lJ4- pentadiene, respectively.
