Abstract
Photolysis of S, C-sulfonium ylides derived from thioanisol, thiophene, benzothiophene, or dibenzothiophene provides products deriving from dicarbomethoxycarbene. In methanol, no rearrangement of the carbene to the ketene derivative is observed. Formation of dibenzothiophene and benzothiophene is quantitative.
