Abstract

The H2 chemical ionizatlon mass spectra of several standard porphyrins have been determined. Fragmentation proceeds via hydrogenation yielding porphyrlnogens, followed by cleavage at the meso (brldge) positions to produce mono-, dC, and trlpyrrollc Ions.
