Abstract
Reagent sodium trimethylsilanethiolate (MeSiSNa) has been used in reduction of aromatic nitro compounds to amines,'conversion of nitriles to thioamides, 2 and removal of a methyl group from metho~ ypyridines.~ This reagent can be generated by reaction of (Me3Si) zS with Na0Me. l Toxicity and stink associated with the expensive (Me3-Si)# reagent, however, limits ita appli~ ability.~?~ Consequently we developed a method for the generation of ...
