Abstract
The rate and enantioselectivity of chiral NHC-catalyzed asymmetric acylation of alcohols with an adjacent H-bond donor functionality are remarkably enhanced in the presence of a carboxylate cocatalyst. The degree of the enhancement is correlated with the basicity of the carboxylate.
