Abstract

Psacalium decompositum1 is a shrub native to northern Mexico, and decoctions of the plant have been used as a treatment for diabetes. 2 As part of an ongoing effort to develop novel antihyperglycemic agents for non-insulindependent diabetes, 3 the components of the root extracts of P. decompositum were recently isolated and evaluated for activity. 4 Among the isolated components was the sesquiterpene cacalol. 5 The furotetralin ring structure of ...
