Abstract
The glycobiology of galactofuranose is a topic of increasing interest. This monosaccharide is a constituent of polysaccharides and glycoconjugates from infectious bacteria, 1, 2 protozoa, 3, 4 and fungi, 5-7 while the mammal host does not biosynthesize glycoconjugates containing Galf. In particular, galactofuranose is a component of glycoinositol phospholipids, with anchor characteristics, isolated from Trypanosoma cruzi8, 9 and Leishmania species. ...
