Abstract
The esterification of carboxylic acids is a commonly encountered reaction in organic chemistry. A large number of ester protecting groups have been described in the 1iterature. l Although a variety of conditions for ester formation have already been developed, 2 they are not always satisfactory in yield andor simplicity of operation.
