Abstract

The x-ray structures for meso-and dl-1, 4-diphenyl-1, 4-dithiabutane 1, 4-dioxide are presented. The meso isomer has a center of symmetry in the solid state. Analysis of 'H NMR spectra of a series of dl isomers indicates that the anti conformer is present in about 75%. The erythro and threo isomers of l-phenyl-4-(4-methylphenyl)-1, 4-dithia-butane 1, 4-dioxide exhibit the same anomalous IH NMR spectra (erythro, Aq; threo, AA'BB') as do similar ...
