Abstract

1-Methylbenzimidazole. The following method is a modification of that reported by Fishera and Kimbrough.'In a 1-L round-bottomed flask was dissolved benzimidazole (23.6 g) in methanol (150 mL). Methyl iodide (14.5 mL) was added, and the flask was tightly stoppered and swirled for 10 min.
