Abstract

In the previous paper, 2 the reaction of 2, 5-dichloro-1, 4-dioxane with phenylmagnesium bromide to give two isomeric 2, 5-diphenyl-1, 4-dioxanes (I) was described. However, the proof of structure of the products was not entirely satisfactory, since ether cleavage experiments gave phenylethylen e glycol in yields too low to exclude the possibility of an acetal I1 or ketal I11 structure.
