Abstract
Summary The'basic cleavage product (11) gives on oxidation an acid C4H4NS-COOH identical with the product obtained by Windaus directly from the vitamin. Evidence is presented for regarding (11) as a tertiary heterocyclic base with a P-hydroxyethyl side chain C4HdNS-CH2CH20H.
