Abstract

Summary 1. Dehydroabietic acid and dihydroabietic acid as the lactone have been isolated from pyroabietic acid prepared without the aid of a catalyst. No tetrahydroabietic acid or dihydroabietic acid,[CX]~ OD+ lOS", previously found in catalytically prepared pyroabietic acid, could be isolated from pyroabietic acid prepared by heat alone. 3.
