Abstract
The full discussion of the mechanism involved I have reserved for the present paper. In view of the varied chains from which CHe was elirnioated as shown in the above examples, the Conclusion seemed inevitable that the reaction would pmve to be gqeral one, and further study has fully eonfinned this anticipation. Thus through successive oxidations the following c~ mpounds have been prepared from 2-r-phenylpropyl-3-hydroxy-1 &naphthoquinone:
