Abstract

The condensation of s-triazine with a variety of active methylene compounds has been studied. In addition to 4, 6disubstituted pyrimidines, the products of these reactions include pyridines, aminomethylene derivatives, glutacononitrile derivatives, and substituted formamidines, depending upon the nature of the. starting material and the expcrimental conditions. The mechanism of formation of the various products is discussed.
