Abstract: N-Alkoxymethyl-N-methylamides can be prepared, in good yield, by electrolyzing solutions of ammonium nitrate in an N, N-dimethylamide and an alcohol. Electrolysis of a solution of ammonium nitrate in dimethylformamide and acetic acid yields N-acetoxymethyl- N-methylformamide, and electrolysis of a solution of ammonium nitrate in dimethylformamide containing small amounts of water gives 2, 6-diformyl-2, 6-diaza-4- ...
