Abstract
The l-chlom-% heptenes and the l-chloro-4, 4-dimethyl-% pentenes have been synthesized, characterized, and their relative reactivities toward potassium iodide in acetone and sodium ethoxide in ethanol determined. The data indicate that the rate of reaction is influenced more by the steric requirements impoeed by the nature of the group in the gamma position of allyl chloride than by inductive effecta.
