Abstract
The preparation of cyclopropanone cyanohydrins was investigated. The reaction of 2- acetoxyacrylonitrile (1) with carbenes, eg, diphenylcarbene, phenylcarbene, fluorenylidene, and methylene, gave the corresponding 1-acetoxy-1-cyanocyclopropanes (3).
