Abstract

Although considerable work has been done on the application of mercaptopyrimidines to synthesis in the pyrimidine series, 2 no extensive investigation has been made of reactions in this heterocyclic series involving changes in the mercapto group. The chief reactions, in which the mercapto grouping functions, have been its replacement by a hydroxyl group by hydrolysis, and by its substitution with an amino radical by interaction with various amines. ...
