Treatment of dihalomethane derivatives, chloroform, or sodium trichloroacetate with elemental selenium in the presence of NaH and an excess amount of an amine gave the corresponding selenoamides, selenoureas, and bis (selenocarbamoyl) triselenides in modest yields.
